Local authorities in Toronto have confirmed a mass shooting incident that left two individuals dead and three others injured. The violence occurred on Sunday near a popular cultural festival in the city's west end.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the St. Clair Avenue West and Lansdowne Avenue area following reports of gunfire. According to preliminary reports, two people were pronounced dead at the scene, while three others were transported to local hospitals with varying degrees of injuries.

The shooting took place in the vicinity of the TD Salsa on St. Clair festival, a large annual street event celebrating Latin culture. Police have not yet confirmed if the victims were attendees of the festival or if the violence was directly related to the event proceedings.

Heavy police presence remained in the area throughout the evening as investigators cordoned off several city blocks to collect evidence and interview witnesses. No information regarding suspects or potential motives has been released by the Toronto Police Service at this time.
