16 Killed In Rain-Related Incidents Amid Monsoon Fury In North, East India
Severe monsoon weather has resulted in at least 16 fatalities across northern and eastern regions of India. Jammu and Kashmir remains the hardest hit area, where landslides and flash floods have decimated local infrastructure.
Torrential monsoon rains have triggered a series of fatal incidents across North and East India, leading to at least 16 confirmed deaths. In Jammu and Kashmir, 11 individuals lost their lives as extreme weather caused widespread destruction in the border districts of Poonch and Rajouri.
Local authorities reported that several people remain missing following massive landslides and sudden flash floods. The geological instability caused by the downpour has blocked major transit routes and damaged residential property in the mountainous regions.
A multi-agency rescue operation involving disaster response forces and local police is currently underway to locate survivors and provide aid to displaced families. Restoration work on critical infrastructure is being hampered by continued rainfall and difficult terrain.
