A fire that broke out on the 11th floor of a building in Mumbai's Vile Parle (West) resulted in the deaths of a woman and a child. The blaze occurred on Tuesday night, around 10:02 pm, at the Shanta Bhavan Building near St. Xavier's School.

The fire spread across approximately 4,000 square feet, affecting electrical wiring, installations, an AC unit, household items, and kitchen utensils. Eight fire tenders were dispatched to the scene, and firefighters rescued 15 people who were trapped on the building's terrace.

Two people, identified as 2.5-year-old Abir and 23-year-old Ankita, were deceased. Four injured individuals, Parth, Hiren, Yashasvi, and Abishek, were reported to be in stable condition, with two of them hospitalized.

Fire Officer V Bhosale stated that the fire is under control and cooling operations are in progress. The exact cause of the fire will be determined after a thorough investigation.
