Authorities in Hapur have apprehended two men in relation to the death of Mohd Azeem, a mini-truck driver from Moradabad. Azeem died on August 04, 2026, in a Delhi hospital from injuries sustained on July 31, 2026. Police stated that Lokesh and Shivam, both residents of Bheda Khurd village, were arrested and booked for murder and rioting.

The incident reportedly began when Azeem’s mini-truck collided with an auto-rickshaw near Shiva Dhaba in Garhmukhteshwar. The auto-rickshaw was occupied by Kanwariyas. According to the deceased's father, Mohd Intezar, the auto-rickshaw driver and his associates assaulted Azeem after the collision. Azeem was initially treated locally before being moved to Meerut and then referred to Delhi, where he passed away.

The case presents conflicting narratives. The father of the auto-rickshaw driver, Mohd Imran, filed a separate First Information Report (FIR) alleging that Azeem intentionally drove his vehicle into his son's auto-rickshaw. Imran also stated that his son, Mohd Farman, sustained serious injuries and required medical treatment.

Police confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the two other accused named in the case. Investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding Azeem's death, and authorities have begun the process of closing the case that was registered against Azeem himself.
