The Telangana High Court has initiated a contempt of court case against HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath. The decision came after the officer, an IPS officer, was observed to have demolished a compound wall at a property in Malkajgiri, within the Medchal Malkajgiri district. This action was reportedly carried out in defiance of prior High Court directives.

Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar of the High Court noted that HYDRAA authorities had erected fencing around the property without clear instructions from the relevant Revenue authorities. Both the Medchal Malkajgiri district Collector and local Tahsildars confirmed to the court that they had not authorized HYDRAA to demolish the compound wall.

The judge was informed by the Collector that HYDRAA authorities had conducted 30 to 40 demolitions within his jurisdiction without legal backing. The Collector has been instructed to provide a report on these unauthorized demolitions by the next hearing date. The court also directed the government to ensure that district Collectors within HYDRAA's operational area are informed of all High Court orders to prevent future violations.
