# Telangana Congress Demands Re-verification of 73 Lakh Voters Marked for Deletion

The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee is calling for a thorough re-verification of approximately 73 lakh voters slated for deletion from electoral rolls. They are concerned that genuine voters may be removed without adequate scrutiny.

## Key takeaways

- Telangana Congress is demanding a re-verification of 73 lakh voters proposed for deletion from electoral rolls.
- The party submitted a representation to the Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana.
- Deletions include voters marked as permanently shifted, enrolled elsewhere, or under other classifications.
- Congress plans to use Booth Level Agents to re-verify voter details and assist eligible electors.

The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has formally requested the Election Commission to conduct a comprehensive re-verification of voters flagged for removal during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. The party voiced concerns that legitimate voters could be excluded from the electoral rolls without sufficient examination.

According to TPCC Election Commission Coordination Committee Chairman Pulipati Rajesh Kumar, the draft voters’ list, expected on August 17, includes proposals to remove roughly 73 lakh individuals. The party highlighted that these proposed deletions include 45,18,961 voters marked as permanently shifted, 6,70,203 registered elsewhere, and 1,02,294 categorized under other reasons.

In a submission to Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy, TPCC leaders emphasized the need for a deeper examination and re-verification before any final decisions on deletions are made. They also requested access to details on voters classified as uncollectable or anomalous, so that the party’s Booth Level Agents (BLAs) can conduct on-site re-verification and assist eligible voters in submitting necessary applications for reinstatement.
