Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has stated that the local administration ordered her to vacate her room at the Krishnanagar Circuit House late on Friday night. Moitra claimed that a large crowd gathered outside the Circuit House gates, shouting "Jai Shree Ram" slogans during the alleged eviction attempt.

Moitra reported receiving a call from the Additional District Magistrate around 9:47 pm, requesting her to leave the room she had occupied since 6:30 pm. She stated that an official order to vacate was received via message at approximately 10:52 pm. Moitra, an elected Member of Parliament until 2029, asserted her right to stay in the official accommodation for MPs in her constituency, especially after the end of the Lok Sabha session.

The MP indicated that the administration appeared eager to prevent Opposition MPs and leaders from remaining in the area. Moitra indicated she refused to comply with the requests to leave.

Earlier on Friday, Moitra had appeared before Nadia Police in connection with a hate speech case. This appearance followed a Calcutta High Court directive for her to cooperate with the investigation into remarks made in August 2025 concerning alleged infiltration along the India-Bangladesh border, which had sparked a political controversy.
