The Kerala High Court has announced a notable improvement in its case clearance ratio, driven by the implementation of the Auto Cause List System (ACLS) and concentrated efforts in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).

The ACLS system automatically identifies cases that have been pending for a long time. It then prioritizes these cases for hearings before the appropriate judicial benches and ensures that newly filed cases are listed in a structured manner. This system was introduced on May 19, 2026.

Since its inception, a total of 202,729 cases have been listed across various benches of the High Court. In parallel, ADR initiatives have also shown success. Between January and June 2026, 6,560 cases were sent to the Kerala State Mediation and Conciliation Centre. Out of these, 724 cases were resolved within the High Court itself, and an additional 18,110 cases were settled in the district judiciary.

Further case resolution was facilitated through adalats conducted by the High Court Legal Services Committee and National Lok Adalats organized by the Kerala State Legal Services Authority (KeLSA). These efforts resulted in the settlement of 24,682 cases statewide, with the High Court Legal Services Committee alone settling 70 cases within the High Court.

Beyond case settlements, KeLSA also played a role in victim compensation, facilitating the disbursement of ₹48.23 crore for outstanding claims across the state. This compensation scheme aims to provide financial aid for rehabilitation to victims of crime who have suffered loss or injury.
