The GBA, in collaboration with the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), Bescom, KRIDE, BMRCL, and KIADB, has been actively engaged in the 'Freedom from Waste' campaign. This initiative aims to remove illegally dumped debris, overgrown vegetation, and other waste from public areas within the city.

The campaign has utilized 100 trucks and 25 excavators, successfully removing over 30,000 tonnes of debris and vegetation to date. The GBA reiterated its directive for vacant site owners to clean their properties, warning that failure to do so will result in the authority performing the cleanup and subsequently recovering the expenses from the owners.

Charges for GBA-undertaken work are determined by the government’s Schedule of Rates, considering plot size, debris volume, transportation, and labor. The authority advised that owners can avoid these charges by cleaning their sites independently or by hiring private contractors.
