The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Amaravati reported that a low-pressure area formed on August 12 and strengthened into a well-marked low-pressure area by Thursday, August 13, 2026, at approximately 5:30 a.m. The system is forecast to move northwestward, heading towards Jharkhand via Gangetic West Bengal, with the possibility of consolidating into a depression by Thursday evening.
